A taste of shelter in residential community.
These weekends are multiple-day community based retreats, with quiet reflection, short talks, group discussions and meals in a beautiful location.
We’ll be joined by Frank and Heather Stootman, Australian L’Abri founders in Sydney.
Frank, a physicist & former associate professor at WSU, will give several talks across the weekend on the topic: The God who is STILL there.
Today, God and Christianity are on the back foot in Western Society – struggling to find legitimacy against the prevailing ethos of the 21st century man or woman. It was not always so. Indeed it was the other way around. What was obvious is that God existed. Why the change? Was it necessary or simply a consequence of a rewriting of history? What is the role of science in all of this? Is there any way forward?
The talks will cast doubt on the prevailing social imagery that God is an irrelevant (or unpractical) concept. We will explore the idea that the existence of God is actually the only honest default position for human flourishing: consistent with both the form of the universe and being human.
